Digital Learning Stream is all about embarking on a learning adventure in the stream of computer science, digital literacy, cutting edge technology, interactive stories, animations, and more.

Literacy Skills

I teach Computer Science Specials for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Before teaching Computer Science Specials, I taught 1st grade for a little over 10 years. As a 1st grade teacher I know how important learning to read and literacy skills are to young minds. I did a variety of Interactive read-alouds in video format so students, educators, and parents can use them at school or home to teach foundational literacy skills and foster a love for reading.

Digital Skills

Now I teach Computer Science and digital literacy skills is an important part of the CS curriculum. According to the National Skills Coalition, 92% of jobs require digital skills and the demand for digital skills is across every industry and in almost every occupation, including entry-level and frontline positions (proving that demand does NOT exist mainly in the tech sector). The report also finds that the digital skill divide immensely impacts workers of color, low-income individuals, and rural residents, due to historic under-investment and structural inequities. My hope and passion is to be a small part of changing that statistic by making Computer Science available to all students who attend public school regardless of their background, color, or economic status. All students should have an equal opportunity to learn computer science and digital literacy skills in the classroom to prepare them better for the future no matter what field or industry they enter.

Computer Science has changed the world and will continue to change and shape the future. Empowering students with computational skills is where the journey begins. Whether it's sparking their interest in coding or nurturing a passion for digital innovation, the possibilities are endless in the classroom and beyond.

Why is it called Digital Learning Stream? A stream is always flowing to support the environment and the community of people and animals who live by and around it. Digital Learning Stream is about helping support educators, parents, students in the field of computer science, computational thinking, digital literacy, technology, coding, and more.

Empowering Young Minds

Computer Science can unlock new opportunities and explore a world of possibilities through engaging educational content and computational skills. The aim of these skills is to empower young minds to cultivate creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, inspiring future innovators and unlocking potential through coding.

Igniting a Passion for Technology

The goal of digital literacy is to ignite a passion for technology by breaking down barriers and allowing all students to explore the digital world with curiosity to cultivate digital leaders and build a foundation for a tech driven future.
